Well, then we’d love to meet you!
Welcome to Golden Hawks Youth Wrestling!

The Holly Springs Golden Hawks Youth Wrestling Club is a Raleigh NC and Triangle area  based, K-8th grade youth wrestling club who's mission is to introduce youth to the sport of wrestling and guide, advance, and nurture their wrestling ambitions to a level appropriate to each athlete. The Golden Hawks have curriculum designed for 1st/2nd year wrestlers, intermediate wrestlers, and advanced wrestlers capable of competing at the state, regional and national level.

The Hawks are divided into four squads:

White: This squad is 1st/2nd year wrestlers, grades K-4, who are learning the sport. These wrestlers are taught the fundamentals of wrestling in a manner which is challenging but fun, and offers them opportunities to compete in 3 or 4 novice youth events in which the intent is to allow them to challenge their wrestling skills in an environment which is mildly competitive. These wrestlers practice twice/week in season. Targeted match count is 0-10 matches/season.

Gold: This squad is 1st/2nd year wrestlers, grades 5-8, who are learning the sport. The curriculum of the gold squad is similiar to the white but at a level more appropriate to their age. These wrestlers are challenged to improve their fitness, coordination, balance, core strength, and wrestling skills. These wrestlers generally have 3 or 4 novice youth events per year in which the intent is to all them to challenge their wrestling skills in an environment which is mildly competitive. These wrestlers practice twice/week in season. Targeted match count is 10-15 matches/season.

Silver: This squad is 3rd-4th year wrestlers, grades 2-8, who are proficient in basic wrestling skills and want to challenge themselves to compete on a regional and state level. These wrestlers are introduced to high level wrestling technique and are expected to learn variants to multiple moves and mat situations. In their practice sessions high level technique is taught and these wrestlers are expected to drill multiple repetitions in an environment which is physically challenging yet rewarding. These wrestlers generally have 2-3 local tournaments available to them, and 3-4 tournaments within 2 hours per year. Many of these wrestlers are encouraged to wrestle in state-championship level tournaments as a developmental aspect. These wrestlers practice three times/week in season. Targeted match count is 20-30 matches/season.

Purple: This squad is advanced wrestlers, grades 2-8 who can compete  at the state and regional level. Half to two-thirds of this group are either state champions or state place winners. These wrestlers are taught at a very high level and are expected to be able to chain wrestle from multiple positions using variants learned in previous years. Most of these wrestlers travel on a state and regional basis and form the core of our duals team. These wrestlers typically travel (chartered bus) annually to a Top 100 Pennsylvania tournament, and travel to high level tournaments in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. Targeted tournaments for these individuals include the North Carolina State Championships and Dixie Nationals (Atlanta GA). These wrestlers practice three times/week in season and most attend a high level youth summer camp and work with wrestling/sports fitness professionals in the offseason. Targeted match count is 30-40 matches/season.

The Hawks white and gold squads practice at the Hunt Center, 301 Stinson Avenue, Holly Springs NC. The Hawks silver and purple squads practice at Prospects, 125 Quantum Street, Holly Springs NC.
